WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN?

We will take the square and stop Pegida from gathering and make it impossible for them to go through with the demonstration. If they try to gather in a different location, then we will use our numbers and creativity to obstruct their efforts. Pegida must not be allowed to spread their hateful message unopposed, and they must not be allowed to recruit new people to their dying cause. Come and join!
If it is not possible to gather at the square, we will continue to the demonstration route.

WHY NOW?
A small group called ‘Pegida Denmark’ has been marching in the streets for almost two years, for the last year and a half they have marched in sheep’s clothing under the name ‘For Frihed’ (For freedom). The only freedom that they promote, is freedom for the few. All of us, that don’t fit into their worldview should, according to Pegida, be excluded, deported or worse.
Pegida tries to appear as “concerned citizens”, but instead wealthy upper-class citizens march side by side with mouth guard wearing neo-Nazis, while brandishing signs implying that all Muslims are terrorists.
The fight for votes and the constant scapegoating has pulled almost all of our political parties down the road of racism and hate. Because of this, Pegida consider themselves to represent the population when they campaign for the banning of certain religious buildings or the printing of certain religious texts.
They believe themselves to be taking to the streets the opinions that the thousands of more or less anonymous sympathizers are spouting in commentary tracks and facebook debates. They pave the way for groups such as ‘The Danish defence league’ to march through the streets.
But it won’t be unopposed – when we have mobilized big demonstrations, actions and blockades we have seen their numbers drop – opposition pays off!
When the hate filled internet warriors take to the streets we will show them back to the hole they crawled out of. It must never become normal or accepted to create scapegoats and persecute parts of the population. It’s a dangerous road full of hate.
That why we feel that it’s time to physically take the square where Pegida is meeting, and at the same time ensuring that they cannot recruit new people or spread their hateful, racist messages.
HOW CAN I/WE HELP?
We need your help to spread the word – talk to your friends, co-workers, school mates and anyone else you want to include! Invite them on social media, have meetings where you talk about what you want to participate in the action.
On the day, there will be many different ways to participate. You can stand your ground on the square, you can hang banners, hand out coffee and fliers to passers-by and much more.
Our number, determination, creativity and willingness to be mobile will be the key to success.
So come and join! Together we will reclaim the square and Copenhagen!
