Marx-konferens i Stockholm 25-28 oktober

Efter de lyckade Marxkonferenserna 2013 och 2016 är det nu dags för Marx2019! Årets konferens har Klimathotet och kapitalismens död som huvudtema. De accelererande klimatförändringarna kan inte längre behandlas som en bifråga: det är meningslöst att kämpa för socialism om jorden blivit obeboelig. Klimathotet är det yttersta beviset för kapitalismens omöjlighet; ett system som bygger på ständig tillväxt kan inte leda till något annat än apokalyps.

Nu efterlyser vi förslag till sessioner och paneler från forskare, aktivistnätverk och andra intresserade som vill belysa huvudtemat med hjälp av teoretiska verktyg och praktiska exempel från Marx eller den marxistiska traditionen. Vi välkomnar historiska och samtida perspektiv på klimat- och miljöfrågor. Temat kan behandlas från såväl ekologiska, ekonomiska, kulturella, ideologiska, sociala som politiska perspektiv. Sist men inte minst eftersöker vi bidrag som lyfter fram progressiva alternativ till fossilkapitalismen.

The two previous Marx Conferences in Stockholm 2013 and 2016 were huge successes with more than 2 000 participants, and contributors such as John Bellamy Foster and Michael Heinrich. These conferences focused on how Marxist theories can help our understanding of the contemporary era as well as how to conceive the future.

At the Marx2019 conference we will further elaborate on strategies to move beyond the current social and property relations, with a special focus on how to overcome the movement towards climate apocalypse fuelled by the present capitalist system. A Marxist perspective which aims to achieve political change is more important than ever, since a disaster can only be avoided by a thoroughgoing paradigm shift involving every aspect of society. Therefore the theme and rallying cry the Marx2019 conference will be:

The Battle of Climate change and the Death of Capitalism – “Because there is no alternative!”
