Lecture: Online Antifascism
Fascism is today an online creature, from shooters like Dylan Roof or Anders Behring Breivik who were radicalized online, to the meme culture of Pepe the Frog who catapulted the Alt-Right to fame, to the capacity for the Nordic Resistance Movement in catalyzing violence and threats. We are happy to introduce a comrade from Revolutionary Antifascists in Copenhagen who will come and give a talk about this urgent issue of doing antifascism online.
Where fascists are, there are always antifascists and in this talk we will get important lessons from Denmark in how to fight fascists in digital spaces. A Swedish government agency reported that the Nordic Resistance Movement’s webpage had 3 million hits in September 2017, and far right Facebook pages can garner 100 000’s of likes. While antifascists excel at shutting down fascist street organising, we have been far worse at undermining them online where they can reach mass audiences and radicalize bitter white men.
