We are raising this campaign for the legal expenses of a survivor of sexual violence. We are acting as the 'Assembly of groups and solidarians regarding the case of the 19-year-old woman from Ilioupoli (Greece)'.
As far as the case goes, in 2021 the 19-year-old woman managed to escape from the prison-house she was kept in, where she was solicited. Her father, her alleged partner Daniel and the policeman Dimitris Bougioukos, raped her, abused her psychologically and physically and extradited her for years. The judges have already found her father innocent for the majority of the charges and have released Bougioukos until the trial of the case in the second degree. The charges against the police officer, the father and the other two persons involved in the case are:
- Trafficking human beings by profession
- Trafficking human beings against a minor
- Trafficking drugs
- Illegal carrying of weapons
- Illegal use of weapons
- Illegal possession of weapons
- Rape
- Abuse indecent assault
- Genital act between relatives with minors
- Domestic assault and physical injuries
- Intra-family threats.
Additionally, in this case, the Athens Prosecutor's Office chose not to treat the 19-year-old as a trafficking survivor and therefore did not accuse those involved of sex trafficking, but of plain human trafficking. What is more, the 19-year-old woman, was accused that she was prostituting herself for money without possessing the required professional certificate and without undergoing the relevant medical examinations for the same period that we already know she was a trafficking victim. The young woman was acquitted of the charges by court decision.
On September the 18th, the case continues in the courts and the money needed for the attorneys' expenses and the court fees, reaches the amount of 16.000 euros. For all the above reasons we want to create a crowdfunding campaign for the case. Until now we have managed to raise part of the amount and we need to raise a total of 11.000 euros for the case, by the date of the court.
